Teens & Children

As children and teens grow and mature, they experience a range of emotional and psychological changes. These changes can be amplified by the mounting pressures of school, peers, social media, and relationships.

At Daylight Creative Therapies, we strive to create a safe and accepting space where young people can express their feelings and learn coping strategies to navigate these challenges.

Our art therapy approach utilizes various art materials and techniques to encourage creativity and self-expression. We work collaboratively with our clients and their caregivers to create a personalized treatment plan that addresses their individual needs and goals.

What takes place in a session?

Sessions are held on a one-to-one basis either face-to-face or online and are facilitated using a combination of art making and dialogue.

This combination allows clients to express themselves creatively while also engaging in meaningful discussions about their thoughts, emotions, and experiences.

How can art therapy help my child?
Through art therapy, children/teens can improve their self-esteem, develop self-awareness and coping skills, and gain insight into their thoughts and behaviours.
What is the duration of a session?

Sessions last for 60 minutes.

Does my child need prior art experience to participate?

No prior art experience is necessary.

Art therapy focuses on the process of self-expression and exploration rather than the final product.

The emphasis is on the act of creating and using art as a means of self-expression, communication, and reflection.

Will there be art making in every session?
Sessions are tailored to the child’s need and art may not be included in all or every session.
